In any business the after sales service is very important as the buyers are assured of a good item and if anything goes wrong they can turn to you for help. This is the way you make a loyal customer and the customer will recommend you to their other friends and families.
And, if you are in the jewelry business and you do know the repairs also this will be a big boost for your business. The fine jewelry almost always needs a repair which you can offer as free or a very low price which will make a regular client of yours very happy and can get you more business.
The Jewelry you make should be guaranteed for a specified time and any repairs required on it should be offered free or any parts required can be done at a minimum cost.
If the jewelry is manufactured by you and needs repairs you will probably do it very quickly and may be it is not a big thing as the items need repairs can be a stone which has come off or the clasp has come loose. Then these items can be repaired easily and at a very little cost.
If you sell the jewelry made by others and you have not manufactured it yourself, then you will need to learn to repair small things and if the problem is big then only you need to send it to the manufacture for repairs. But the repair is a very small thing then you need to do it yourself and for that you will need tools for the same. Usually the tools required by the jewelers are very small and are special for the jewelry repairs and they do not cost too much.
The main items required by you will be extra clasps, chains of different sizes and design and stones. The other item will be Magnifying glass which will help you repair the small things without any problems. Have a good lighting system which will be highlighted over the piece of jewelry which you are repairing as this will be easy on your eyes.
If you are not manufacturing the item yourself find out the policy of the wholesaler and how much guarantee they offer and what will be the implications if the repairs are needed. In case the company has the repair services available then you can ask the client to send the piece directly to the company or to you and you can in turn send it to them for repairs. But do not let your client deal with the wholesale company on their own keep the tab on what is happening and when the repairs will be done and the client will get his jewelry back.
it will be better if there are small repairs you learn it and do it yourself this will give the confidence to the client that you are doing good business and you can treat your client properly and take care of their requirements. In case if the wholesale company does not treat your client properly then it will effect your business in the long run.
